Population growth in QLD falls behind

The ABS estimates for population in the first quarter of 2015 show the total Australian population up 1.4% from a year ago at 23.714 million (this rate of growth is unchanged from the previous quarter). Population in Queensland grew at just 1.3% (down from 1.4% last quarter) to 4.767 million; an additional 61,100 people.

All states and territories recorded positive growth. Victoria led the pack (again) with an increase of 1.7% followed by NSW and WA (+1.4%), ACT (+1.3%), SA (+0.8%), TAS (+0.3%) and NT (+0.2%).
