The quarterly ABS population estimates for the final quarter of 2014 show total resident population growth has fallen to an annual rate of just 1.4%, the slowest rate of growth since the end of 2010. Net overseas migration fell to just 32,500 in the quarter which is the smallest number since June 2010.
Queensland’s annual rate of growth also fell to 1.4% (from 1.5%in Sept). Victoria was the fastest growing state recording a rate of 1.8%.
Estimated resident populations are 23.626 million in Australia and 4.751 million in Queensland.
