JobSeekers fall in Queensland in July

Data released today by the Dept of Social Services show that JobSeekers (those receiving JobSeeker and Youth Allowance (other) payments) fell in July in Queensland by 6.1% m/m; this was the best performance of all States and Territories. Across Australia JobSeekers were down just 2.1% due to an increases in NSW (up 1,931 +0.6% m/m) and South Australia (up 2,320 +2.6%).

The regional data shows Cairns fell at an even faster pace (down 1,103 -6.3%) in the original data. Our own Conus/CBC Staff Selection JobSeeker Trend series shows a decline of 32.5% for the year and currently sits at the lowest level since March 2020.
