The CONUS Grant
We are committed to supporting our local community. Each year, as part of our Corporate Social Responsibility policy, we donate at least 1% of our revenue to local community groups and as part of that process this year we have introduced the CONUS 2012 Grant program.
The CONUS Grant program is a fund available for small projects to any community group based in the Cassowary Coast region. The money can be used for a variety of purposes such as purchases of equipment, ongoing expenses, training or specific activity costs. We will consider all applications on their individual merits. Applications for any amounts up to $1,000 will be considered.
The 2012 Results
We received a dozen wonderful applications for the Conus 2012 Grants and wished that we could have helped all of the community groups who applied. However, that was simply not possible.
We have decided, based on the large number of applications and the fact that our communities are still recovering from the impact of Tropical Cyclone Yasi in February 2011, to increase the grant fund pool this year.
Our Conus 2012 Grant recipients this year are:-
Innisfail Community Bank - the Band has been awarded $1,000 to assist in the purchase of wide-brimmed hats, for protection from the sun, when they perform outdoors around the region.
Kurrimine Beach Progress, Recreation & Sporting Assn. - the Association's hall, damaged in TC Yasi, requires a new refrigerator. The Conus 2012 Grant will be purchasing a new 520 litre refrigerator for use at the hall.
Mission Beach Community Arts Centre - the Conus 2012 Grant of $1,000 will be used to fund an Emerging Artists workshop and exhibition.
Thanks to all our applicants for the wonderful work that they do for our communities.
