The ABS Short Term Arrivals and Departures data today shows total (seasonally adjusted) departures for the 12 months to July 2014 hitting a new record which just missed breaching the 9 million barrier (actually 8,987,100). July saw a total of 763,800 departures which was up 4.3% from a year ago.
Arrivals were up strongly (after a subdued figure in June) at 569,300 which is a 7.9% increase from a year ago. The total for the 12 months to July 2014 hit a new record high of just over 6.7 million. Arrivals from China were strong at 71,300 (up 1.7% from June) and up 17.7% from a year ago. The Trend series for Chinese arrivals shows a 9.4% increase from a year ago. Total Chinese arrivals for the 12 months to July 2014 stood at 775,900, up 10.8% from a year ago.
